Like everyone I am many things – wife, mother, daughter, sister, and the list goes on. I am abundantly blessed with a wonderful husband who encourages and supports me at all times, not only in my passion for photography. After my family and my God, my greatest passion is photography. This addiction was unleashed several years ago when I first picked up my Dad’s Canon AT-1 35mm camera. My reason for picking up a camera for the first time was a fascination with the ability to capture a scene, forever preserving the moment. With no greater intention, photography, to me, has become an exploration of both myself and the world around me.
While an understanding of how a camera functions is necessary to produce a technically accurate photograph, I believe that more is needed to create a truly meaningful photography. A photograph reveals more than just a given subject or scene. As a photographer I am prompted to press my camera’s shutter release by my reaction to a scene… an unconscious expression of a lifetime of feelings and experiences. One of the realizations that I love about photography is that many people can photograph the same subject, and produce drastically different photographs; each one offering a unique expression of the photographer and the subject.
My greatest desire in photography is to see and show others those things which would otherwise go unseen in the hurried pace that we all keep in life; to capture those special moments in time that most people probably never notice. I want to see a subject from a unique angle or observe the smallest of details. I want to look through my viewfinder and capture that which, in a split second, grabs my attention and speaks to me. Whether I am photographing my family, a vacation or a wedding, my desire is to capture the intimacy and beauty of the moment.
Had a chance to read your post titled ‘Just Be Better Than You Were Last Week’ @Tasramar.com
Nice post and I bet it will inspire other 365 folks – sure it inspired me. I like the quote “Remember you don’t have to be the best. You just have to be better than you were last week.”
What an awesome quote – it’s simple but powerful and it can be applied to whatever one’s working on besides photography challenge. I will have to keep that in mind
Keep up the good work.
Thanks so much Sasi. I was really blessed to be able to share what I am learning.
